To volunteer with Blue Cross you must be 16 years or older and have up-to-date tetanus vaccinations. Please be aware that they receive many requests from potential volunteers. If they do not have any available positions your name will be added to the waiting list. If you would like to volunteer your time, please make an appointment with the Volunteer Coordinator, Jennifer (Jen) Cairns. Jen is available on Saturdays and Mondays. WORK EXPERIENCE Blue Cross takes a limited number of students. Selected students are allocated 5 day blocks (Monday – Friday). You need to be 16 or older, or your school must be able to provide you with insurance. You must be up-to-date with your tetanus vaccinations. Shelter work is great fun but be prepared for some hard dirty work. Location of role 26 Homestead Rd, Wonga Park, VIC 3115 Agency profile The Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria is a not-for-profit animal shelter located in Wonga Park. It can house up to 25 cats and 25 dogs at any one time. Both staff and volunteers are dedicated to giving our animals another chance and finding them a new family. The shelter does not receive any government funding and relies on donations to feed the animals and give them necessary medical care. On the website you will find information about all the animals currently up for adoption, as well as details on how you can support the work done by Blue Cross.
