Agency profile/mission Eastern Palliative Care (EPC) is a not-for-profit home-based palliative care service which offers a full range of support programs with the aim of improving the quality of life of individuals, carers and families of those suffering life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
Volunteer duties If you are caring, empathic and can provide transport for clients to appointments then you may consider Home-Based volunteering. As well as undertaking supportive practical tasks you can provide an objective listening ear, validating and accepting the unique feelings of both client, family and friend. Home-based volunteers undertake small supportive practical tasks in the client’s home as well as provide transportation.
Biography volunteers visit people's homes, providing purpose to those in the final stages of their lives by capturing their stories and/or those of their families and reminding them that their lives have been meaningful and that they have made a difference. If you are a good listener and have some spare time, basic word processing skills and a car, you might consider training as an EPC Volunteer Biographer.
Administrative volunteers Volunteers from the above programs may have the opportunity to help EPC across it's three sites (Nunawading, Kew, Wantirna) with clerical duties. Experience in office duties, filing and word processing is helpful for Administration volunteers.
