About Participating Agencies
Country Fire Authority (CFA)
Agency type Emergency Management
Volunteering Activities type Emergency/safety/rescue
About the agency CFA has evolved from its informal beginnings in community- based fire brigades to become one of the world’s largest volunteer-based emergency service organisations.
It is wholly committed to the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery phases of emergency situations, providing a diverse range of risk reduction, fire suppression and incident management services to minimise the impact of fires and other emergencies on Victorian communities.
Volunteers There are many different types of volunteer roles at CFA - support roles as well as active firefighting. Within the CFA area of Manningham, CFA volunteers attend fires and accidents. Volunteers also engage in community fire awareness and prevention programs and present talks to schools about fire safety in houses. Volunteers receive training in active fire fighting and fire prevention as well as in other roles.
The CFA plays a vital part in the outer bushy, rural and semi-rural areas of Manningham.
Within Manningham, volunteers need to live within a short distance of the CFA fire stations in Warrandyte, South Warrandyte or Wonga Park areas.
