Melbourne East Disability Advocacy (MEDA) (previously Citizen Advocacy (Inner East)) About the agency Melbourne East Disability Advocacy (MEDA) formerly known as Citizen Advocacy is a community- based program that creates relationships between volunteers from the community (citizen advocates) who use their skills and life experiences to defend the rights and interests of people with intellectual disabilities.

This is achieved through finding and supporting individuals (advocates) from the local community, who are prepared to act voluntarily to make a positive difference to the life of a person with the disability who may be isolated, face difficult challenges, or be at risk.

Volunteers Volunteers from the local community are required to build MEDA relationships with people with intellectual disabilities in Monash, Whitehorse, Boroondarra, Manningham and Maroondah. MEDA are also seeking volunteers for 2011-2012 for the Committee of Management.
